Tuesday my husband stepson and I went in to buy a suit jacket for his new job at bank. An employee walked by as their was no employees in the dept.

it was 10am she walked by and my step son says excuse me we need help and I have questions. She replied no speak English. wTF?? Macys you should hang your head hiring people that don't speak English??

I am fuming.

At least hire those that can speak English. After all THIS IS AMERICA I will never step into this store again and will not recommend anyone to go there

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Macys Cons: Non speaking employees.

Location: Port Charlotte, Florida

Did you ever think that associate that you stopped was 1. an employee from the cleaning company macy's hires (legal of course) but they do not speak english.

or 2.

a support associate at macy's who does NOT have to work with customers and therefore does not need to comprehend english and 3. Read up on the USA..there is NO OFFICIAL FEDERAL LANGUAGE.

Funny thing about the USA.. there is no official language.

So saying that everyone needs to speak English is ignorant. I can understand your frustration about lack of assistance but other than that you could have probably walked over to the nearest cash register and found another employee.

I do speak English, and American Sign Language, and Norwegian...... However, for your information, the USA is a melting pot.

We encompass many cultures and we no not have English listed as the official language. Norway has Norwegian listed as it's language, the USA has nothing in that category sooo ยฏ_(ใƒ„)_/ยฏ

What do you mean "there is no official language" in the USA? You say that and still want to call someone ignorant?

Hahaha Are you going to say next that the whole thing was the customer's fault for not speaking another language? LOL Yes, she could have walked to another register, but also employees should be able to communicate with CUSTOMERS in English while AMERICA!

America is not the USA..... America includes Brasil, Mexico, Columbia, Canada, ect.

Companies can't discriminate against someone and refuse to hire them because they don't speak English. Again, if you read a book about the good 'ol USA, English is not an official language. If we listed a language, all government meetings/papers/official business would have to be conducted in English only and this is not the case today. As a country with so many different cultures and background, we have not have any language listed as the primary one.

You have some pretty bad grammar so I suggest you brush up on your English before critiquing someone else...

"communicate with customers in English while AMERICA" ??????? What is ignorant is to assume everyone HAS to speak English BYE :)
