Macys charges for paying off bill!
Just found out that if/when you pay off your Macy;s account, you are charged a fee, unless you pay the entire bill the first time. I was one day late in paying off my bill, so was charged a late fee -no problem.
Last month I paid off the interest charge 2 days before it was due. A couple of days ago, I got a bill for $2.00. When I called to ask what the $2 was about, I was told that if you don't pay your entire bill, when you do, no matter what the amount your paying off, you are now charged a fee! Apparently, it's $2 if you owed less than $200 and goes up by "x" percentage, depending on the amount.
What a rip-off!!!! - Charged for paying off your bill.
I'm seriously thinking of getting rid of this card.

Oh yes...just found this out. I will never do business with Macy's ever again, cash or credit. Horrible greedy store.
Same for me! My last bill was $32 and I paid $32 today I got a bill for $2.00 WTF! I'm calling them Monday morning and if they don't reverse the charge I am canceling my card!
I agree! You are literally charged extra for being a good customer and paying off your balance.
I cannot believe they get away with this scam!

I got charged about $11 in interest after I paid my bill in full by the second statement this was the second time it happen so I cancelled my credit card
This is illegal
PERIOD.
The CARD AGREEMENT from Macy's states:
How to Avoid Paying Interest For Revolving Account Purchases, your due date is at least 25 days after the close of each billing period. We will not charge you interest if you pay the Revolving balance in full by the due date each billing period.
So we as consumers need to file complaints with the AG in our states, and with the consumer protection bureau.
There will probably be a mass class action lawsuit, wherein we will get NOTHING in the end.
So for now, DO NOT USE A MACYS CARD for anything.
And while you're at it, go see if they have a Facebook page, and complain until your fingers go numb.
This is illegal.
"We will not charge you interest if you pay the Revolving balance in full by the due date each billing period."
It's not interest they are charging, it is a sneaky hidden fee for paying off a balance, not interest so this is a moot point. Also, this is an issue to take up with the issuing bank of the credit card since they are the ones who handle any fees and interest. Macy's is not the bank and therefor has no say over what fees/interest the bank charges.
I too got this charge after paying off a bill in full, however it was more than $200 so I don't think the payoff amount affects anything. The bill was also paid on time.It was called a "Statement Fee" which to me = A BS excuse to make a couple extra bucks.
I'm seriously considering getting rid of my Macy's card if they are going to charge me $2.00 every time I want to pay my bill in full. I called them up, complained, and they waived the mysterious fee.
It was not because you were a day late, I got the $2 charge and paid on time. The way they charge interest they go back two months.
I paid my charges half one month and half the next. When I paid it off the account was paid in full.
But the following month I received a bill for the minimum $2 interest charge because even though there was no longer a balance there was a balance for part of the previous month. I was not expecting to have to pay a bill that month so low and behold they reported a late payment on my credit report for that $2 that appeared on my account after it was paid in full.
I got rid of my Macy's card and I don't shop there anymore because of this same charge that I received.
Good luck Macy's! I will shop elsewhere.
