On May 5, 2015 I was invited to Effy trunk show. I wanted to buy something for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day hoping to make her happy. I was told the discount was incredible so I purchased a bangle with list price of $14,299 with 50% discount and additional discount, after discussed with Effy trunk show rep, I paid $4,628 for the bangle, because I know my mother-in-law will be happy.

However on May 5 night, I have found out on Effy.com that the same bangle (same carat weight) was listed $8,000 with special price at $3,950 with additional 10% discount without tax. The listed price of the bangle was 80% mark-up from $8,000 to $14,299! I was shocked, stunned and mad. I went back to store the next day and sale associate adjusted the price and apologized to me, telling me that they have no idea about the trunk show mark-up prices, she assured me that Macy's will never mock customers if they know the price. The store manager then called me and apologized about the incident, in order to show me how sincere she is, she offered me some Macy's coupons as compensation. The sale associate called me twice to apologize. I was very still pretty upset, but mainly at Effy because I do not think Macy's know about the price mark-up at the trunk show. But I feel very upset about the whole incident because I feel *** and duped. I was too upset, because if I can not trust Macy's when buying jewelry, who can I trust?

However on May 23, I found out that the same, exact bangle was listed $6,600, on sale for $4,158 with 15% discount at Macy's.com. I was again shocked to find out that at Macy's.com the original price was even lower. I feel like a biggest *** in the world! So Macy's should know about the price of the bangle all the time and I was fooled again by Macy's and believe all sales associates were innocent without knowing the the price of the bangle should be lower. I returned the bangle on May 23 and vowed never return to Macy's jewelry department.

How many customers have been duped like me with Macy's mess up prices at the trunk show? How many customers have been mocked and cheated by this kind of trunk shows thinking they are special like me, but actually are the biggest fools? How can I ever trust Macy's again? Can we customers ever trust Macy's for those dishonest jewelry prices? I want to share my unpleasant experience with fellow consumers for they should have the right to know that Macy's is such a dishonest retailer that mock the price for its customers. Never go to the trunk shows and been treated like fools. Very very disappointed at Macy's.

Reason of review: Not as described/ advertised.

I wanted to thank you for posting your review. Attended the 2016 Effy show.

The Effy rep provided a quote on ring which he said was discounted 70%. While in the store, I checked and found it on Macy's.com for $600 less.

It's unfortunate these events aren't more enticing for consumers but your review made me more alert to it. when invited, I was told the inventory would be "the full Effy line" and not items in store.

This was misinformation. I ended up buying something from my local store which was honoring all the discounts.

It was not the Macys associate or company who was dishonest it was Effy themselves who you should blame. As far as pricing for the item goes Macys always has sales so what you buy this week could possibly be on sale for cheaper next week. No one duped you.

Macys.com and Macys stores are two separate entities. As for EFFY they are the ones who bring their own pieces from their own collections.

As for the associates they are not here to dupe you or raise the prices of items. They follow the guidelines set forth by the vendor.

Yes Macys and Macys.com have sales all the time, majority of the time one sale is running into the next. Macys.com has their own pricing vs Macys stores themselves.

they are not two separate entities. they have separate sales sometimes, but they are the same company.

Um no one duped you after the first time. Items go on sale and prices fluctuate all the time.

You weren't duped. Welcome to a free market economy.
